Worldwide Public Auction - November 18-19, 2017

This auction contains many United States, general worldwide and British collections from various small estates. The usual are coins and a nice assortment of paper money, baseball cards, autographs and framed art work. The more unusual items are Edison cylinder phonograph, a Tiffany Desk set, a large (10 feet x 20 feet) US flag with 48 stars and a large section of space memorabilia.

The Second Session is anchored by United States, British and other general foreign singles and sets. The US section contains numerous #1's, Columbians, White Plains sheets, several modern errors and a large variety of Revenues. The Foreign section contains British Africa, Cape of Good Hope, a large selection of France, and an especially nice variety of Malaya and Malayan States, as well as many other countries. Also, in the second session are the individual covers primarily from the United States and China with a smattering of a few others to round out the sale.

For those of you who are curious on the running of our public auction. The time line of an auction is rotated on a quarterly basis starting at around the time of the previous auction with the example of this auction being started around August 15th as a deadline for accepting consignments. For the next 4 weeks finalizing the auction descriptions and the scanning process take place resulting in 1791 lots and over 5000 images. The next 3 weeks are taken up building the catalog and data tables for the website. The catalog was mailed out the week of October 9th, five weeks prior to the auction so if you did not get your catalog before the auction, talk to the Post Office. The number of successful bidders has increased around 50% while the post auction shipping periods has doubled in man hours over the last year and we have concluded that will not change for the foreseeable future. An average auction weighs 15 tons and takes 1.1 miles of strapping tape. Due to cost and quality of service we use FedEx freight and ground to ship out 98% of the auction.
