147 O/nh 47 var image1893 50c deep blue Widow Weeds, a right sheet margin block of 10, with full original gum, never hinged with a few small adhesions on some stamps. Each stamp has been cancelled with an Ottawa circular datestamp APR.29.1907, which is described by some as being a precancel. The accompanying 2012 Greene Foundation certificate states only "used". 154 O 35/41 imageLarge Collection of 1c to 3c Small Queens with Dated Town Cancels, from the 1870s to the 1890s, with three main groupings, one with 700 Small Queens in black stock pages (plus another 80 later stamps), one with about 600 Small Queens written-up on pages and the third is a group of about 300 Small Queens on piece or cover, for a total of about 1,680 stamps. A lovely and rarely offered group, with lots of small post offices from all over Canada, with broken circles, c.d.s., duplex, coloured, indicia errors, etc. Some were collected strictly for being able to read the date only, others for both date and town. A few dozen or more stamps have other types of postmarks such as fancy, flag, etc. A great lot for the town cancel collector, or calendar collector, overall fine to very fine.
