630 CVR. 77 image1902 Illustrated Advertising Drop Letter Cover, mailed at Toronto and postmarked with a lovely strike of the rare Toronto experimental (called "Freak" by some) 2-ring datestamp dated OCT.6.1902 (this datestamp was previously a duplex, later modified). The illustrated corner card is from the "The Veterans Locating & Colonization Association" and depicts two lovely illustrations of soldiers on the left and covered wagon colonists on the right. Small tear at right and backflap faults do not detract from this gorgeous cover. 663 O 74/89 imageCollection of Toronto "Freak" Experimental Duplex and Orb Postmarks, 1901 to 1903, mostly all on 2c QV Numeral stamps, but also on three covers and a card. The stamps are on a double-sided stock page, with one side having the duplex version of the postmark and the other side the later Orb version of the postmark. Accompanied by a photocopy of a 1965 Maple Leaves article explaining how this was first a duplex, which got changed into a 2-ring Orb datestamp in January 1902.
