LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
614A ng 5 image1857 6d dark green Heraldic, this stamp has deep fresh colour and four margins. Argenti wrote of this mint stamp as one of the most difficult to obtain in The British Empire. There is a light corner crease primarily in the margin and a small and relatively shallow thin. Unfortunately, someone "painted" over the thin and this obvious repair resulted in the 1996 Greene Foundation necessarily issuing a pink certificate. A lovely genuine mint example of this rare stamp which is a superb example of the engraver's art. (Scott #5 $10,000, S.G. #6 £10,000). (Scan a) Unitrade $ 12,000
