Christoph Gärtner Philatelic - Special Auction - The Peter Zgnoc Collection - May 20, 2019 We present you with this catalogue outstanding objects of the German Occupation issues during World War I, the German Voting areas, Gdansk and the Memel area. Starting with the legendary overprint fault ”2 F. 50 Cent on 1 Mark red 8 for Belgium. One sheet with 20 stamps was overprinted unrecognized and used in Charleroi as normal parcel franking, whereas the regular overprint for this value was on 2 Mark dark blue. Upper Silesia is represented by several Germania pairs of which only one stamp bears the b lue hand stamp overprint, and the unique sheet with all issues of the red overprint whereby the 50 Pfg. and 1 Mark values are the only known copies. The highest value of the 1st Gdansk issue is represented by four specialties: a mint copy with 26:17 perforation holes, an unused copy with upside-down frame as well as the two known copies with inverted overprint
