Egypt French office, folded letter sent to Malta with ALEXANDRIE postmark applied on 27/8/1841 repeated on the bach but with "7 SEPT 41" dater and handwritten "Affranchissement obligatoire" (Compulsory postage). Since there was no French post office in Malta, the postage could not be paid by the recipient. After return to the sender, probable transport via forwarder to Malta because inside note of recipient attesting reception on 4 November. RARE. (Image1)
