1914 (Oct 30) 1d Field Service Postcard to England, cancelled over six months later at Army Post Office S1 (6 May 1915, Abbeville) with Norwich arrival c.d.s (May 10) and violet "Found in billet abandoned / in October 14 and / re-occupied in May 15", a little creased but very scarce and unusual. 1914-19 Covers with various cachets, most returned to the sender, including covers to Russia with "SERVICE SUSPENDED" (2) or "Livraison impossible / a cause de la guerre", 1914 wrapper from Bulgaria to London with a Service Suspended cachet, 1915 cover from Greece to London with "Retour. / Pas d'occasion de / transport par voie / d'Allemagne", 1917 cover from Baku to London with "PART OF A MAIL CAPTURED / BY GERMANS AND DELAYED", 1916 O.A.S postcard from Base A.P.O Z in Alexandria with unusual "Transferred" cachet, 1916 registered cover from Germany to USA detained until 1919 with boxed "RELEASED BY THE / BRITISH MILITARY AUTHORITIES", etc. (12).

1914-19 Covers and cards to British forces but undelivered and returned with various cachets, including "CANNOT TRACE / 1ST SOUTHERN GEN. HOSP / EDGBASTON / BIRMINGHAM", 1917 cover to R.F.A "Naseent" endorsed "ship sunk", also a cover and card from forces in France delayed because they were posted unsigned, etc. (23).
