Cat No:around seventy

A Revenue Collector’s Dream. Highly advanced, specialized two-volume collection compiled by a sophisticated philatelic dealer. Begins with items from 1862 and continues into the early 20th century. Stamps are hinged or mounted onto attractive homemade pages (around seventy) or placed onto stock pages (approximately twenty-five sides); much of the material is identified. Volume One features thorough coverage of perforate and imperforate First Issue Revenues, 1862 to 1871; Volume Two provides an enviable exploration of Second Issue Documentary Stamps, 1871 to 1902, and Proprietary Stamps, 1871 to 1914. Both volumes present stamps as singles, pairs, and blocks and offer thousands of examples of cancels, shade variations, perforation oddities, printing anomalies, etc. We found examples of bisects on documents, double transfers, cracked plates, margin imprints, silk paper, and card proofs. We also noticed certificates for R6d, R49b, and R95a. A difficult lot to duplicate. Allow plenty of time for viewing. (Image)

A wonderful collection of several thousand, mostly different to 2017 in mounts housed in six Scott albums. Strong early period, continuing so through the commemoratives. The back of the book continues with extensive airmails, postage dues, officials, newspapers, telegraphs, postal savings, Shanghai’s and booklets. Also, included are international replies, Confederates, Christmas seals, locals (some dubious) postal currency, postal seals and parcel posts. As usual with many collections the postage total is of significance. Condition is mixed at times so careful viewing would be helpful. (Image)
