USA 1928-30 1st Byrd Antarctic Expdn USA 2c stationery envelope, to USA, canc fine "SS. CITY OF NEW YORK" duplex d/s JUN 19 1930. M/s at upper left "From Lt. M.P. Hanson, B.A.E" (radio operator), b/s B.A.E. pictorial cachet (polar scene etc) with text "S.S. City of New York - Dunedin, N.Z." below. Also b/s New York arrival d/s JUN 19 1930. Fine.

USA 1928-30 1st Byrd Antarctic Expdn long cover (26 x 11.5cm), opened 3 sides & reinforced on back, franked NZ 1d GV canc Dunedin cds (date unclear, but may be 20 SP 29), to bank in Invercargill. At left, undated circular "S.S. ELEANOR BOLLING" h/s & B.A.E. pictorial cachet (with no text below polar scene). Charged 1d postage due as oversize, so 1d P.D. applied & canc by Invercargill cds 26 SP 29. Also octagonal d/s same date on back. Two file holes through top of cover. Posted while ship was at Dunedin. Unusual item.

ELEANOR BOLLING" duplex d/s OCT 31 1928, with at left, largely clear B.A.E. pictorial cachet (Antarctic outline & ship, huts & dog team in polar scene, with no text below). Early date. Neatly repaired tear at bottom.

USA 1933-5 2nd Byrd Antarctic Expdn long printed expdn cover, to NZ schoolboy, franked USA 3c canc "Little America / Antarctica" machine d/s JAN 30 1935. At left, large circular expdn cachet (violet) showing map of Antarctica. Further expdn cachet (2 penguins & mail) on back & special San Francisco receipt b/s MAR 25 1935. Signed on flap "Captain A. James Taylor". Insect nibbled on back, frontal appearance very good.

USA 1961 Operation Deepfreeze cacheted USS Wilhoite 6 March airmail cover to NZ. Wilhoite only spent the one season in Antarctica.
