Lot No:758

1935 (Jan. 11) Honolulu - Oakland flown cover, endorsed "Carried by air/..." and signed by the pilot "Amelia Earhart" at upper-left and "No.13 of 49 covers" at lower-left; superb condition.
EXTREMELY FINE AND CHOICE. CARRIED ABOARD THE FIRST NON-STOP SOLO FLIGHT FROM HAWAII TO CALIFORNIA.
Amelia Earhart was the first to make the 2,400 mile solo non-stop flight from Hawaii to the mainland United States. Most covers have the arrival postmark on the back. This example is more desirable in that all markings are on the front of the cover. AAMC catalogue No. 1225. A similar example (No. 32 of 49) realized US$3,500 hammer in Seigel's1999 Rarities sale and another example brought $US$4250 in their April 2008 sale.
