#70c, 24c Violet on thin paper , two horizontal strips of three, a pair, and a single, tied to large cover (approximately 9.25"x10") by black open grid cancels, the top left stamp being a straddle pane copy with vertical guide line at left, the bottom right stamp a straddle pane copy irregularly cut at left, the cover postmarked Philadelphia Br Pkt Dec 23. to Oxford, England, with JA 11 62 circular datestamp arrival backstamps, inscribed "5oz" and handstamped "Insufficiently / Prepaid", with original enclosure, a December 9, 1861 edition of the New York Herald, some creasing and small edge tears as as expected, with 2019 P.F. certificate noting "additional stamps removed." Multiples of the 70c thin paper are incredibly scarce, and our research yielded no examples of strips of three either on or off cover.
