The "Illinois" was a side-wheeler of 755 tons and built at Detroit in 1838. She operated in the Great Lakes trade until she was lost in 1868. This cover was postmarked during the Wisconsin Territorial period. US$500-750 (Image)

The Low Pressure Steamboat Swallow. Printed broadside (9½ x 11¼) in frame, lovely illustrated design of the Swallow from New York to Albany & Troy with sailing time & fare $1 (Deck Passage 50¢), cira 1837, some minor staining. Estimate; $500 - 750.
The Swallow was built in New York City and began running nighttime passage between New York City and Albany in 1836. It had a wooden hull nearly 100 yards long and weighed 426 tons. She was later lost in one of the most infamous river disasters in 1845. US$500-750 (Image)
