POSTAL HISTORY - BOER WAR: Collection of civilian & military mail with good ranges of Press Censor cachets & British Forces cds including to Vermont USA, Opened Under Martial Law labels in English & Afrikaans, POW mail to and from Ceylon plus to St Helena & to four of the six Bermuda camps, etc, condition rather mixed but many are fine to very fine. A very enticing lot. Three with interesting content: 25.5.1900 from Bloemfontein "...We had to visit the farms...& take from them their arms & ammunition. This police work is all we are likely to see...This Camp is not a lovely spot...No one knows anything - when the war will be over - where we are to be sent to next or when we are to come home"; 10.12.1901 from Bloemfontein "En route for Johanes. We are now a few hours from Bloemfont..."; and 9.2.1902 from Kimberley "...we went out with Sitwell's Column and had rather a warm time of it...we came across a large commando entrenched on a ridge...The rifle fire was at very short range...Major Whitehead...had just given the order to charge when he fell with a bullet in his heart...We had 26 killed..."

POSTAL CARDS - SCENIC: Interesting display 'From Post Card to Postal Card and Back' featuring a study of the picture postcards issued for the 1924-25 Wembley Exhibition, the use of these images on the 1927 Scenic Postal Cards with 1½d Ship value for the overseas rate, their subsequent re-issue initially as 'formular' postcards (without imprinted stamp value; perhaps with indicium missing?) and then with ½d Springbok and 1d Ship values for the inland rate, comprises 12 PPCs and 27 postal cards mostly unused (the formular types used) plus two card packets, condition generally fine to very fine. Beautiful material. Ex Bernie Doherty.
