Boer War. 1899 Cover from London to Johannesburg with violet boxed "MAIL SERVICE SUSPENDED" and Returned Letter Office Cape Town c.d.s; and 1900 censored cover from Barberton to Bedford with violet boxed "STOPPED BY CENSOR / RETURN TO SENDER" and Returned Letter Office Natal c.d.s of Durban. (2).

Boer War - P.O.W Mail. 1900 (Feb 22) Cover franked 1d from Dorking to "Private F. Ball, Imperial Light Infantry, Estcourt or elsewhere, Natal Colony", endorsed "Prisoner of War at Pretoria" and redirected to Pretoria with violet boxed "BRIEVEN CENSUUR / Waterval Krijgsgevangenis" and triangular Press Censor. Minor soiling and small circular surface scrape, an uncommon cover to the P.O.W camp at Waterval; Pte. Ball was captured at Spion Kop on January 24th.

1910 (Nov 4) 2½d used on Cape ½d postcard (corner crease), posted on the First Day of Issue at Delpoorts Hope, and 2½d block of six with First Day cancels of Umtala. (2).

1913-27 Definitives, mint and used selection including two large pieces of Springbok Head watermarked, paper (180 watermarks), 1912-24 issue with controls, 5/- mint, coil and booklet stamps and panes, incomplete 1921 3/- booklet, 1926-27 issue with 1d pair double perforations, 6d pairs mint (6) and block used on cover, booklet panes, etc. Also 1913 3d and 4d Mackay essays. 1929 Booysen 1d Springbok head essays, imperforate blocks of four in black or purple, singles in blue, purple or brown, all fine mint. (11).

1929 Air Post 1/-, imperf marginal colour trial block of four in red, printed on ungummed paper with printed wording from an obsolete landchart on the reverse. (4).

1937 Coronation 1d, sheet of 120 with rejoined paper variety affecting one vertical column of six stamps, mounted in the margins only, very unusual.

1942-44 War Effort, 1½d block of four with upper margin showing adverts misplaced downwards onto the upper pair of stamps, and 2d block of four with misplaced horizontal perfs, also a perforated and rouletted watermarked gummed block of four without any stamp printing, all fine mint. (3 Blocks).

1949 Kruger 1½d, perforated essay affixed to a cover, tied by Arcadia c.d.s. Also a photocopy of another essay signed by the designer. (2).

1952-53 "Hope with Anchor" (13) and "Leaping Springbok" (8) essays by A. Hendriksz, both essays in blue on perforated watermarked paper, imperforate se-tenant pairs on laid paper (4), imperforate se-tenant pair and block of four on thick card, imperforate "Hope with Anchor" essays on laid paper (5). The "Leaping Springbok" essay was used for the 1953 1/3 definitive. (21).

World War Two - Hospital Ship "Amra". 1941-43 Stampless covers, one from Durban to Canada, one with violet oval "No. 1 HOSPITAL SHIP / c/o ARMY P.O DURBAN" and "CENSORED" with a South African A.P.O, the third with F.P.O 572 c.d.s (Tunisia) and bilingual boxed "S.A HOSPITAL SHIP / No. 1 / c/o S.A. ARMY POST OFFICE". (3).
