Collection / Accumulation of Roughly 3,000 Alberta Town Postmarks on Cover and Cards, 1960s-2000s, filling two bankers boxes, with several hundreds of different towns, generally organized alphabetically by town name ranging from A to W, including a few pre-1960 covers. The lot consists of primarily commercial mail paying domestic and a few registered rates and postage dues, noting a variety of postmarks including c.d.s types, several different pictorial cancels, sub and rural offices, machine cancels, POCON, MOON, broken circle, and more. Just a few of the town names include Balzec, Carseland, Barrhead, Acme (nothing addressed to Wile E. Coyote), Bonnyville, Glenwood, Millarville, Lake Isle, Red Water, Wrentham, and much more, with some towns having a variety of postmark types. A nice opportunity for further research on modern postmarks, as many cancels would have short periods of use, closed sub offices, etc. Ideal for the Alberta or Canada postmark collector as the lot would take years of searching to duplicate, as the previous owner spent a lifetime collecting Canada and worldwide socked on the nose postmarks and postal history. Our photos show a sampling and overview only. We note a few small faults along with roughly 80% of the covers being #10 size envelopes. Overall fine to very fine. (Image)

Group of 7 Covers Mailed from Victoria British Columbia, 1876-1877, all are addressed to Henry J. Morgan / State Department / Ottawa by his wife Nemmie, Her father was a Victoria parliamentarian and had free-franking privileges, so 6 of the 7 covers were mailed free-franked, with his initials at the lower left corner. It can be seen in our large offering of Morgan postal history elsewhere in this sale, that when her father was out of town, she was "forced" to use stamps on her mail. A few of the envelopes have "Government House / British Columbia" printed backflaps, and one has a "Pacific Mail Steamship Company / San Francisco" backflap, which is stationery she often used. The letter contents, some of which are quite lengthy, talk of all sorts of interesting subjects of the time, and are well worth a read for the historian. Faults to varying degrees and one cover has a missing stamp, still an interesting glimpse into early Victoria and the Morgan couple. our second picture shows the contents of just one letter (each page is double-sided).
