1885 registered letters from Teheran to Paris and Vienna, one sent via Tabriz, Julfa EPOs, Tiflis to Vienna, with registration mark of “RECOM” type with Persian beneath on front and franked on back with lion type 1885 issue 1ch green strip of three and 5ch blue (x3), paying the 6ch rate and 12ch reg. fee. And quadruple rate letter to Paris 1886 with 36ch franking sent via Recht, Enzeli and Baku; two spectacular letters with colourful franking and rich range of reg. markings.

1879 5s green and black on letter to Teheran, struck by purple circular Schiras cds 14.5, with Teheran 21.5 arrival alongside, reverse further Tehran and Tabriz cds, fine. (Image)

1886-87 5ch green 1881 Mitra issue single franking on letter from Djahroum to Teheran, stamp tied by bold strike of the scarce Djahroum native cancellation with an additional strike on the envelope alongside Teheran circular datestamp; a very fine and scarce single use on the back of envelope. A group of seven letters, including 1881 5ch green single on reverse of envelope tied by rare Kermanchah circular cds, on the front is Hamadan receiver, also 1894 lion issue 5ch blue on attractive envelope tied by Kazvin and with Hamadan receiver and one from Kum with circular cds; a very fine group with light damage in places. 1885-86 one page with two letters, official letter from postal authorities in Rescht May 1886 via Enzeli, Baku, Tifliz, to Germany, bearing 1885 “Officiel” overprint 6ch on 5ch green, neatly tied by circular Rescht datemark, fine letter (reduced somewhat at top) conveyed through the Enzeli-Baku exchange offices, and a waybill from Teheran to Kermanchah Dec 1885, bearing 1882 issue 5f red and black and 1k slate ties by circular Teheran, also two letters, one registered, from stamp dealer Aftandilian in Tabriz to Paris 1898 franked with 1kr 8ch; very fine. 1889 registered letter Tabriz to Switzerland Sep 10 1889, bearing 1882 issue 10s orange and black and (on back) block of six 2ch pale blue of the newly issued Paris typographed issue (the earliest recorded use), paying international rate 6ch and reg. fee 10ch; a very attractive envelope with red wax seal on back opened out for display, the block of six is very fine but bottom right stamp is folded around cover edge.
