THE FERRARY STRIP OF FOUR - LARGEST RECORDED MULTIPLE - UNIQUE
4c Blue, mint horizontal strip of four, being type 2 retouched (line of colour above FOUR CENTS) together with types 3+4+5, intense blue colour and fresh original gum, light creasing (not apparent from face) and a very light small stain at right, undoubtedly one of the most important items of this issue and stated by Townsend & Howe (page 37) as being unique with no blocks recorded.
Provenance: This strip has a fantastic pedigree as it has adorned the prestigious collections of Philipp von Ferrary (1921), Alfred Caspary (1957), Josiah Lily (1967) and John E. du Pont (2014).
