Middle Rangitikei/Rangitikei (PM 1861-72, to Bulls) Perkins Bacon supplied 1855 series barred obliterator "13". Use at Rangitikei (c1864 on) postulated by KJ McNaught (1988). Very fine complete strike (c1864-65?) on 2d blue FFQ Chalon SG 39 (plate 1, worn state, star wmk, imperf), 3½ margins. Appears very early use (sharp clear impression). Very few definite examples are known (& none at all on cover, which would normally enable attribution). Rare. (Image)

Variable quality of strikes, from partial to complete, patchy to clear impressions. Some good items throughout. Strikes mostly full & clear, with places of use identified. The rare "13" (believed used at Rangitikei) is on 4d yellow SG 120 (issued 1866).
