NZ 1939 & 1942 hand illustrated covers x 2. 1) Herbert Duke cover, is annotated: Lake Taupo / North Island / New Zealand, bears a 1938 Health & 1½d GVI chocolate stamps, cancelled FRANKTON JUNC. / 7 MR 39(?) addressed to USA. 2) An exquisitely decorated cover that features numerous flowers surrounding a view of 2 Maoris in a canoe on a lake in front of a snow clad mountain, with a hand painted address to Mr & Mrs / Ray Watkin / Radio Hospital / 165 Symonds St., / Auckland C3. Cover bears a 2d Pictorial stamp, cancelled 29 AU(?) 42 at Wellington. Rear has some adhesions but is otherwise superb. (Image)
