Circa 1910 Sepia Photogravure Print of Captain Robert Falcon Scott, from a photograph taken circa 1904-05, wearing the Victoria Order and the Polar Medal, sunken-in on a card measuring 38 x 51 cm, with facsimile signature of Scott and imprint below the image reading "Copyright Maull & Fox, 187 Piccadilly, London, W.". The Print is overprinted with "SPECIMEN" handstamp. A lovely and detailed print, with a few foxing spots and other small faults here and there, still would look great framed in a stamp room, etc. According to Wikipedia, Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912) was a Royal Navy officer and explorer who led two expeditions to the Antarctic regions: the Discovery expedition of 1901–1904 and the ill-fated Terra Nova expedition of 1910–1913. On the first expedition, he set a new southern record by marching to latitude 82°S and discovered the Antarctic Plateau, on which the South Pole is located. On the second venture, Scott led a party of five which reached the South Pole on 17 January 1912, less than five weeks after Amundsen's South Pole expedition. Non-specimen framed examples of this print have been selling at auction in England in the £900 to £1,100 range. (Image)

Collection of 25 Gilded Sterling Silver Canada Stamp Replicas, housed in a leather presentation case. The collection was sold by the Canadian Silver Engravers Ltd. and production limited to 7,500 sets in Canada and 2,500 for the rest of the world. Stamps are made of sterling silver (925/1000) and gilded in gold for a total weight of 454 grams (or 1lb). The complete set originally sold in 1984 for $1,625. Desirable Lot of Approximately 1,550 Picture Postcards, From the Early 1900s to 1950s, mostly depicting Northern Ontario communities with a strong thematic on mining and lumbering. We noted obvious strength in real photos and white borders. All are housed in three "shoe box" style boxes, with many sorted by city. We estimate that about 10% of the postcards were postally used, with many scarce town postmarks such as Whitefish, Monck, Temagami and Temagami Park, Wasing, Berryland, Beaumaris (LRD), Skead (ERD), Cartier, Cumnock (LRD) etc. Also included are over 100 black and white photographs from the early 1900s, featuring scenes from Northern Ontario and mining activities. A much better than average lot, with great historical value on the development of Ontario Northern mining communities, and a treasure trove for the postcard collector, dealer or online reseller. There are so many nice postcards that we had great difficulty selecting items to scan, and therefore we highly recommend viewing this lot to better appreciate its valuable and interesting contents. Lot of Approximately 275 Real Photo Postcards, consisting of black and white portraits of individuals or family photos. Although their origin is not generally documented, the group came in a consignment of postcards depicting scenes from Northern Ontario. All appear to be dating back to the early 1900s with the odd one postally used. An interesting group of postcards, with no doubt some historical interest such as the lovely photo postcard of Private Harold Dowling (depicted on his bicycle described as being a postman) who later became postmaster of the Ohaton post office in Alberta (December 1929).
