1854 1a RED DIE I "A" STONE SUBSTITUTED TRANSFERS: Four used pairs with [14-15] substituted with [62-63], [29-30] substituted with [77-78]. [34-35] substituted with [82-83] and [47-48] substituted with [95-96]. Note: In 1935 C. D Desai & Sir Eric Studd discovered that either owing to a faulty transfer or subsequent damage, the 48 impressions of the sheet had been erased and replaced by 48 impressions from the lower half of the sheet, thus stamps nos. 1 to 48 though having the correct watermark show the flaws of 49 to 96. 1854 1a RED DIE I "A" STONE SUBSTITUTED TRANSFER: A reconstructed block of four comprising two horizontal pairs [41-42 ST/49-50]. The stamps are clearly cancelled with the "C/135" of Palamcotah. The upper pair shows the flaws of stamps [89-90] in the lower half of the sheet but the watermark of stamps [41-42] in the upper half.
