1915 (Nov 22) Cover from G.B to a British soldier in the 2nd Dorset Regt franked 1d, returned to the sender nine months later with violet "UNDELIVERED THROUGH / CAPITULATION AT KUT". 1941 (Jan 26) Printed "NAIRN TRANSPORT CO LTD / OVERLAND / DESERT MAIL / HAIFA - BEYROUTH - DAMASCUS - BAGHDAD" envelope sent from Baghdad to USA, 22 stamps paying the 720fils rate for overland mail to Egypt, Imperial Airways to Singapore and then Pan Am across the Pacific, circular violet "A" and "I" and a boxed censor cachet all applied in Singapore. Very unusual.
