Australia 1979 Qantas B747 50th Anniv Admiral Byrd's Antarctic Flight to South Pole, cacheted numbered cover, with 20c Byrd AAT stamp canc Sydney airport.

Australia-NZ 1931 "airmail" cover, franked 1930 6d violet Air, canc Melbourne machine d/s 1 April. To NZ (Northcote b/s 15 AP 31). M/s "Australia-NZ via The Southern Cross". This apparently planned trans-Tasman flight never took place, because the plane had to make an emergency flight to the Dutch East Indies to pick up the salvaged 1st experimental Imperial Airways airmail GB to Australia (the IA plane had crashed at Koepang on 19th April). Kingsford-Smith also flew the return mail (to GB) as far as Akyab, Burma, where it was transferred to an IA plane. This cover appears to have travelled (overpaid!) by sea to NZ. An interesting souvenir.

1841 pre-stamp wrapper (inner sheet removed) ex ? to Sydney NSW. B/s good unframed SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY" cds MY 10 1841. Black m/s "3" (3d to pay). Some toning.

1842 pre stamp entire ex Sydney NSW to London, GB canc fair-good near complete strike of unframed oval d/s (red) "PAID SHIP LETTER/SYDNEY" JA 8 1842 (message written 27 Dec 1841). Black m/s charge mark "3" deleted & "8" written instead (8d to pay). Also with good complete step-framed h/s (black) "SHIP LETTER/PLYMOUTH". London receipt cds 2 JU 1842. Almost 5 months transit. Clean.

1844 pre-stamp entire to London, GB canc fair strike of large crowned oval d/s "Chief Post Office/Adelaide" No 23 1844 & with good straight-line h/s "SHIP-LETTER". M/s " 'Dorset' via Sydney". M/s rate "8" (black) crossed out & replaced by "6" (6d to pay). London receive cds 30 JU 1845. Reposted in London with GB 1d red-brown imperf & London d/s JY 2 1845. Long transit (7 months). Interesting item.

1844 pre-stamp wrapper (very worn edges) go Glasgow, GB, with m/s " P 'Tropic' ". M/s rate "½" in red (1s 2d paid) & another (unreadable) in black. B/s fair/good Melbourne crowned oval d/s FE 26 [1845], fair-good straight-line h/s "SHIP-LETTER" (red London receipt cds "VK" 9 JY 1845, & boxed Glasgow d/s 11 JUL 1845.
