1916 WWI censored Egyptian 3m on 2m p/c, canc fine complete strike of "AUST & NZ ARMY CORPS/HEADQUARTERS/FIELD PO" cds 16 MR 16. 9.10pm & with triangular censor h/s no 3478 (red). No message. Addressed in pencil to "Capt Gatt, 11 DAC, EEF" (& signed by him as censor), so probably CTO use! Fine. Used at Ismailia, shortly before 1st ANZAC corps sailed for France.

1946-7 ½d-5/- "B.C.O.F. JAPAN 1946" ovpts set of 7, on regd O.A.S. cover addressed to NZ soldier in NZ (but no receipt b/s), Unusually canc "R.N.Z.A.F. 333 N.Z.A.P.O." cds 11 FEB 48 (2 strikes). NZ regn label with "NZAPO 333" h/s. At this time, NZ APO 333 was at Bofu airfield, having moved from Iwakuni 2 days previously (both locations near Hiroshima). RAAF APO 30 was also at Iwakuni. So this cover may have been cancelled by favour & handed back over the counter. Exceptional (philatelic) use of NZ Forces cancel on Australian stamps. SG J1-7. Cat £275 (for the stamps alone).
