1933 ½d to £1 Set Perforated SPECIMEN, the full iconic King George V set for the Centenary of British Administration. All are fresh mint and never hinged, with no trace of blemishes nor toning on the gum. Overall very fine centering (a few are fine-very fine). Archive records indicate 473 sets were perforated SPECIMEN, very few of which are in private hands, making these much scarcer than the regular set. 1937-38 ½d to £1 First Printing Set of 13 Perforated SPECIMEN. All are fresh, mint never hinged and except for the 6d (small light discoloration on gum) are without blemishes or toning on gum. Most are very fine centered but four values, including the £1 are fine only. All are first printings (with a £39 premium for the 6d and 1sh) except possibly the 5sh which appears to be a second printing (1938) with slightly lighter gum. If this is correct, the shade merits a premium of £950. The full set of 16 perforated SPECIMEN has a Scott Specialized value of $2,500 plus 40% for never hinged. A bonus in this lot is #58 line perforated 14 x 13.7 (with mark on King's neck). (Image)
