German Colonies Cover, Stamp, and Ephemera Collection. Engaging assemblage of over forty items. Includes picture postcards, commercial mail, photo negatives, telegrams, individual stamps, etc. We noticed material from assorted colonies in Africa, post offices in China and Turkey, and possessions in the Pacific region. Uncommon Collection of Postcard Views. Around eighty picture postcards. We noticed a few RPPCs as well as colorful or black-and-white lithos. Cards show landscapes, villages, people, and animals. Most cards are unused, occasionally with writing; some were mailed. Overall F-VF. Along for the ride is an old empty German postcard album “Gruesse aus der Ferne.” Uncommon lot. (Image)

German States and some early Empire collection from the 1850s to 1920 beautifully presented and assembled in the 1950s in a medium box. Roughly 200 mixed mint and used stamps, Michel listed reprints, a few covers, multiples, tete-beche pairs in an Elbe binder on quadrille pages. Much higher quality than normally encountered. A three part collection involving the Shield issues of the 1870’s. Part one is pertaining to the various issues showing varieties and shades plus an unusual approach explaining condition. These are mostly used and show a wide variety of attractive cancels. Part two emphasizes cancels. Many examples are clear, readable, s.o.n’s with premium types throughout. Part three is an auction lot intact as the collector never got around to cherry picking. All total, a high catalog total with condition from faulty to XF. Could be a terrific source for assembling an exhibit. (Image)
