1950 U.P.U. Presentation Book, held in Berne, Switzerland and containing mint never hinged stamps from a wealth of different countries, sorted alphabetically by the country name in French. We counted about 620 different stamps or souvenir sheets, some being both perforated and imperforate. Appears to be missing stamps from a few countries but mostly all there. Includes the common design types as well as other designs issued for this event. Scott catalogue value for all 313 common design types is $499, plus the others, to make up the total 620 stamps. We note better countries such as Vatican and Berlin, etc. Unfortunately, this book was kept in a damp environment and many of the stamps have suffered some toning, and some are stuck down. Inspect.

1885-86 Cover to India, then Back, etc. mailed from NYC on NOV.4.1885 and addressed to Calcutta, India, and franked with a 2c brown Washington issue. The cover is full of interesting postmarks, including on back: a NOV 26 SEA POST OFFICE, DEC 10 WELLES BY ..., DEC 15 Calcutta, DEC 18 Calcutta, DEC 19 Bombay DLO, MAY.6.1886 New York and a few others including two triangular DLOs, etc. Front postmarks include a New York postage due marking for 15 Centimes, an OVERLAND POSTAGE DUE marking, a MAY 5 Washington DC duplex, a RETURN TO WRITER DLO pointing finger and a REFUSED boxed handstamp. Would have been a killer cover had it not been opened on three sides and other faults, still very interesting and a great item for the student of rates, routes and postmarks. (Image)
