Housed on pages in large "album"; starting with partial reconstruction of the first 1871 four plates with additional on covers plated, scarce 1872 violet issues present, the 1290 plates including large multiples and a few covers, and nice showing of later issues in similar fashion; a nice holding for the specialist. Symbol:Africa, Airmail Postal History. Small but exciting grouping of about 100 middle range priced airmail covers from Africa. Mostly all are commercial uses from before World War Two with a few flights, censors and unusual items. Most are British and French colonies with some others along for the ride. Generally very fine. All are sleeved and priced with approximately $3,300 retail value. Estimate; $500 - 750.
