1799-1908 Printed Acts, notices and letters regarding plague, disinfection or quarantine of ships or mail, mainly British but including items from Malta, Sweden, USA, Italy, France or Germany, one 1855 letter bearing printed Reggio disinfection label, also 1855 Report on Quarantine Practice in force at Gibraltar, reports of outbreaks of disease in various countries and changes to quarantine regulations, 1831-32 report concerning the cholera outbreak in Britain which killed 52,000 people, 1800 act establishing a lazaret at Chetney Hill in Kent, etc. An interesting lot. 1836-43 British Parliamentary Papers in two bound volumes, the first entitled "Correspondence relative to the Contagion of Plague, and the Quarantine Regulations of Foreign Countries, 1836-1843" comprising 416 pages of quarantine regulations throughout Europe and 152 pages of "Queries and Answers relative to the Contagion of Plague". The second volume entitled "Report from the Select Committee on the Health of Towns" comprising 262 pages of evidence collected on the sanitary and health conditions of various town, with a diagram of "Back to Back" housing in Birmingham, and a further 258 pages on the effect of interment of bodies in town. Two interesting volumes, both ex Bath Reference Library, the second rebound.
