Multicolored Magnus design with usual Liberty transformed into a short-skirted Indian Maiden and State Seal, on cover bearing 3¢ rose (65), flaws, tied by "Washington D.C. Dec 10" cds to Selins Grove Pa.; toned spot and some edge wear, 3¢ flaws; accompanied by non-original matching Magnus lettersheet beautifully colored, datelined "Fort Corcoran, Feb 26th /64" and written in red ink reading "…let you know how I was getting along away down south in dixie we are stationed at fort corcoran opposite washington on arlington heights, we can see eight or nine forts from ours, there is three companies stationed here…we can see the reble General Lees housem the fort stands on his plantation or what used to be his…" and goes on to detail his camp days, some rough paper loss at right, Fine and unique Magnus pair, ex-Risvold.
