The stamp rated RRR: unrecorded unused. Number 1 in Tony Presgrave's Census of five covers, & the only 'C.L.' cover with a Red Overprint. [The addressee, A Gadechens & Co, were Adelaide merchants]

Superb & scarce multiple. Rated RR+. Superior to the 'Besancon' single, with a surface scuff. [Date range 4.11.1868 to 24.6.1869]

Overrated at RRRRRR - at least four examples have been recorded: unrecorded unused. Superior to the 'Tamiami' example - the design cut-into in places - that sold for $689. The Northern Territory Place Names Register states that Cullen Bay, Larrakeyah may have been "named after the senior partner [of] Cullen & Wigley, who were based in Pine Creek during the mining period of the 1870s". Cullen River & Mount Wigley were definitely named after these men.
