Stampless 1803 cover from Saint John to Fredericton rated PAID 'IN3'. On the front side has rare Saint John "SHIP LETTER" (previously reported only in 1810, this example is 7 years earlier). On reverse has a scarce "ST JOHN. N.B. NOV. 22. 1803" 2-line h/s. The cover was sent by a Deputy Surveyor to George Sproule, Surveyor General of New Brunswick at Fredericton. F, some toning.
