"The Rising Sun-Japanese Expansion from 1894-1925", one frame, 16-pages exhibit intended to illustrate, through the 24 covers or cards, the military expansion of the Empire of Japan, starting with the first war with China 1894-95 and continuing up to the Ryukyu Islands. The first Sino-Japanese War includes card sent by a soldier attached to the Fifth Division in Korea to Hiroshima, also incoming cover to "Chosen Koku, Heijo Haitanbu" (Korea Pyonyang Line Communications HQ), two covers from 1sh and 12th FPOs sent from the Lyaotung Peninsula, plus others in Manchuria and Weihaiwei. Japanese Occupation of Taiwan is well represented, including two covers with local Black Republic adhesives, registered card with "Chefoo, China" registry box, two cards from Pescadores Islands (1898 card from Mekon to Berlin, another from Boko, sent in 1911 to Canada), also covers from Naha, Ryukyu Islands (used in 1909 and 1913) (Image)
