1907 (22 Feb) China 1c stationery card additionally franked with 1/2c and 1c CIP Coiling Dragons, tied by Peking departure pmks, sent via Shanghai to Venlo, Netherlands, with large violet "Nederlandsche Gezantschapswacht Peking" undated cachet, oval "B.4" and arrival (29.3.07) cds, v.f., signed Bloch. The Netherlands had a legation in Peking during the Boxer Rebellion, but no Dutch personnel served in the Allied forces. After the uprising, the Dutch took advantage of the Peace Protocols which allowed the foreign legations to have armed military guards. A rarity (Image)

1917 (19 Apr) registered cover from Peking to Amsterdam, franked with Chinese 4c, 5c, 7c and 10c definitives, tied by departure pmks, endorsed "Via Siberia", with Registry handstamp below, oval "L.Q" handstamp, sender's "Netherlands Legation Guard" docketing, "Opened by Censor" label, another violet censor handstamp, fine and rare (the Netherlands had a legation in Peking during the Boxer Rebellion, but no Dutch personnel served in the Allied forces. After the uprising, the Dutch took advantage of the Peace Protocols which allowed the foreign legations to have armed military guards.
