1862 6d blue-green, unused with original gum and hinge remnant, with compound perforation (14 to 16 at left and foot; 11 to 12 1/2 at top and right). A lovely example of this scarce compound perforation (thought to be a trial perforation and not known in used condition), with excellent colour (SG £3250); with certificate Friedl 1976 (showing an original horizontal pair of which this is the left stamp). Antigua 1937 (MR 8) cover to Vanikoro, Solomon Islands bearing single franking 1 1/2d tied unclear cds, to left arrival cds of 14 OC, the envelope apparently not called for and redirected to Zirl, Tyrol, Austria with despatch date stamps front and back of 16 FE 38, there is no final arrival but there is a manuscript note stating arrival as 31 Mai 1938; fine and most unusual.
