G.B Naval Mail - Isle of Man Steam Packet Co. 1915 Covers from I.O.M S.P. Co steamers commissioned as naval vessels during WW1 with censored cover from H.M.S "Ramsey", the enclosed letter dated August 5th 1915 and the stamp cancelled on August 7th, the day before the ship was sunk in the North Sea (the writer amongst the 52 killed); covers from H.M.S "Peel" with differing censor cachets (2); also a postcard of the "Mona Queen" in wartime camouflage. G.B - P.O.W Mail - Newbury. 1914 (Sep-Nov) Covers and cards comprising registered cover franked 3d, cover franked 1d and a stampless cover with oval Official Paid c.d.s and "Prisoners of War Information Bureau" cachet, all three with red dated oval "COMMANDANT'S OFFICE / NEWBURY / BERKS / PRISONERS OF WAR CAMP"; stampless card with similar oval "COMMANDANT'S HOUSE / NEWBURY / BERKS / 13 SEP 1914 / PRISONERS OF WAR CAMP" (very scarce, only used early Sept.) and "Prisoners of War Information Bureau" cachet; stampless card to Germany with Post Free P.C cachet; and cover franked 1d from London to an internee with red "P.C". The camp at Newbury Racecourse was closed in December 1914, the internees transferred to P.O.W Ships. (6).
