Cat No:4a [15]
1850-57 Half-Lengths very fine trio comprising Ham First State of the Dies 3d blue SG 4a [15], and Campbell & Co 1d orange-red SG 23 [10] with superb part strike of the 'N[EWSPAPER]/GEELON[G]' datestamp & 3d blue with Major Retouch [17] SG 24a, the last is just touched at the top otherwise with full margins, Cat £800.
1850-57 Half-Lengths attractive balance of consignment comprising Ham Printings 2d x3 and Campbell & Fergusson 1d two horizontal pairs & 3d with No Necklace (terrific variety, but creased), Cat £950 minimum.

1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Second State of the Die with More Colour above 'VICTORIA' 1d pale red SG 5a, margins just clear to good, light Butterfly '15' cancel of Geelong, Cat £500. A premium stamp. Gibbons state that SG 5 & 5a are shades of red-brown: that is incorrect.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Second State of the Die with Coarse Background 2d grey-lilac SG 6, margins close to large, Butterfly '23' (rated R) of Burn Bank, Cat £225. Superb.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Second State of the Die with Thin White Band on Orb Protruding at Left 3d pale blue SG 7, unusually large example with margins good to large, Barred Oval corner cancel, Cat £225.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Third State of the Dies with Outer Framelines Added 1d dull red SG 8a & 1d brownish red SG 9a horizontal pairs [4-5] & [1-2], each pair with one good margin & other margins in places, the first with fragments of both units at the base, light Barred Oval cancels, Cat £850+. [Both pairs illustrate how absurdly close together the transfers were laid-down, and why examples with full margins are rarely seen] (2 pairs)
1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Third State of the Die with Framelines Added 2d grey-lilac SG 10, margins just clear to good, part-Butterfly cancel clear of the Queen's face, Cat £225.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Third State of the Die with Framelines Added 3d blue SG 11 single, margins just touching - at right - to good with a fragment of the adjoining unit at left, and a horizontal pair [5-6], margins just touching - at right - to good with a fragment of the adjoining unit at lower-right, tiny closed tear at upper-right, Barred Oval cancels, Cat £300+. Sergio Sismondo Certificate (2001) for the pair states that the "minute closed tear" is at upper-left. [Another good example of how absurdly close together the transfers were laid-down] (3)
1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Fourth State of the Die with Coarse Border & Background 2d red-lilac SG 15, close even margins, Butterfly '1' of Melbourne in blue, Cat £350. Superb.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Fourth State of the Die with Coarse Border & Background 2d grey-lilac SG 15a, margins just clear to good, Butterfly '15' of Geelong in blue, Cat £375.
1852-56 Queen-on-Throne Ham Recess Printing 2d reddish brown SG 18, close even margins just clear of the outer framelines, small stain at lower-left & a couple of minor thins, large-part original gum, Cat £900.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Campbell & Fergusson 1d pink (shades) SG 28/a group complete reconstruction of the 24 types (6x4) including a pair [1-2], most with full margins & quite a few are unusually large stamps, postmarks include Barred Oval '94' of Avoca (rated R) & the oval 'NEWSPAPER/MELBOURNE' datestamp, Cat £1200+, for unplated singles. A challenging & very attractive reconstruction, of stamps that are far-above usual plating quality. Completing any Half-Length reconstruction is far more difficult than for the Queen-on-Throne 2d, every example of which has distinctive lettering in the lower corners.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Campbell & Fergusson 1d rose SG 28a horiizontal strip of 4, margins just clear to good, faint ironed-out horizontal crease, very fine BN '2' of Geelong, Cat £200+. A very scarce multiple.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Campbell & Fergusson 3d greenish blue SG 29a with large Thumbprint Flaw at Left, margins just shaved - at left - to large, neat Barred Oval cancel clear of the variety. One of the best such varieties we have seen: see Geoff Kellow at page 59.
1850-57 Half-Lengths Campbell & Fergusson Stone D 3d greenish blue SG 31a [1], margins close to huge, characteristic paper irregularities, unused, Cat £2250. A very fine example of this rare stamp. Ex Wolfgang Kielmann. RPSofV Certificate (1995).
1850-57 Half-Lengths Campbell & Fergusson Intermediate Stone D 3d deep blue SG 31c, margins just touched - at lower-left - to good, virtually full o.g. (which is rarely seen on the imperfs), Cat £1900. An unusually fine unused Half-Length. Ex Rodney Perry's auction of 30.4.1981, and off the market since then.
