United States -- Xavier Sager World War I Christmas card sent from France to US 3.75 x 2 5/8 inch envelope carried this card from France to US. Card is dated December 13, 1918…after the war ended. Sent free as soldier's mail and has AEF postmark. Sager designed cards and illustrations, many with erotic, irreverent, bawdy, or cheesecake themes. Sager focused on the costume, fashion, and hairstyles of women. He is considered by some to be the creator of this type of caricature. Many imitated his style in Paris. (Image1)
