Balloon cds on 1870 French direct mail cover to Selongey, France, franked with 1867 Grilled 10¢ green and 1869 6¢ ultramarine with matching cut diamond fancy cancels, the 10¢ adhesive also tied by the cds, treated in New York as prepaid to the port of entry with red exchange cds showing no credit (10¢ blanket ship rate, non-treaty period January 1, 1870, until August 1, 1874), blue "Cherbourg" entry postmark with black "8" decimes due handstamp, two transit postmarks (one with year date) and Selongey May 2 receiving postmark on the back, small repair at top and top backflap mostly missing, Very Fine and visually striking, ex-Myerson. Scott No. 96+115  Estimate $500 - 750. The 6¢ stamp on this cover became detached sometime in the past and has been reaffixed slightly askew from its original position. The stamp is nearly detached again. The stamp could be carefully lifted and reattached back in its correct position. $0 (Image)
