POSTAL STATIONERY - POSTAL CARDS: 1908 Visit of the Amercian Great White Fleet 1d carmine-pink HG 13 printed over 'STAMP'-within-box at upper-right, view side with Australian & US Flags & Coats of Arms surrounding 'AUSTRALIANS/[ship]/WELCOME AMERICANS', very fine with just a couple of tiny marks in the gold border, unused. [The decision to issue cards for each of the 'smaller' States was made at the eleventh hour, with a single printing of the 1d stamp for the relevant State over the 'STAMP' box on these semi-official cards; for Tasmania only 2000 were printed, all of which were sold]
