Hobart Wireless Radio Station: 'WIRELESS TELEGRAPH STATION/DE18/1913/HOBART' (B1+, Hardinge Type R2(i)), superb and almost complete strike on reverse of real-photo postcard (corner pinholes & associated defect) showing Hobart Wireless Station (located on Queen's Domain), message on reverse reads "Good wishes & very many tks (sic) for past assistance from Radio Staff V.I.N, to ditto VRK, Dec 13". The 'VRK' reference is likely to King Island station, the first Tasmanian Wireless Radio Station, erected by Father Shaw in 1911. The only other example of this datestamp we could trace was on the reverse of a 1912 cover, offered by a Tasmanian auction house in April 2022, selling for $1,585. It was stated that the newly discovered datestamp would become known as Type R2(i). (Image1)
