1801 (Oct 20): Entire letter from Paramaribo to London written in Dutch by Governor Fredericks during the first year of British Occupation, struck on reverse with superb strike of two line "SURINAM / OCT 20 1801" datestamp in black. Faint oval "Ship Letter / ♚ / DEAL" in black on front panel and rated "6/-" to pay in manuscript. London arrival cds in red on reverse (Jan 21, 1802). Queen Charlotte Packet', struck with very fine "SURINAM" fleuron datestamp displaying well on flap, carried at double rate and rated '4/4d.' due upon delivery with London arrival cds on flap (March 5) in red.
