Russia, Used. Russian Ship Mail on the Caspian Sea. A wonderful array of 44 stamps (23 Romanof issue), many different denominations of which most cancelled with oval Mercury line sea mail pmks, black or blue, 1912–1917 Baku-Enzeli, Baku-Mechedisser (RRR), and Baku-Lenkoran-Astara (RRRR). A few has Persian arrival pmks such as Enzeli, Recht + some with unknown straight blue lines. In addition a nice block of four of 35 kop cancelled by Tabriz Russian Consulate. A most significant stamp, a 15 R Romanov, cancelled with Gunbad-Kabuz that was a very small Russian post office that was opened in northern Persia approx 1915–17. Ex Dr Casey. Excellent conditions.
