Exhibit pages with mostly unused embossings on plain stocks of various colours comprising ½d orange x6 (three locally used to the same address, one with cds of JY11/94), ½d vermilion 'error of colour' WS15.2 (rated R), ½d carmine-pink 'error of colour' WS15.3 (rated RR), ½d Albino Impression Only WS15.4 (rated RR; no used example recorded), 1d shades of red x6 (two philatelic usages at Sydney), 1d+1d carmine-pink WS19 x2 (one impression underinked; rated RR; no used example recorded) and 2d blue-green WS18 (rated RR; not recorded used), plus the 120x320mm 'Ascher Reference Copies' of the ½d 1d & 2d all on buff, the first 2d with faults otherwise fine to very fine.

HALF PENNY: ½d bright orange WS15.1 (rated R) on off-white stock with gummed flap, local commercial usage endorsed "Proof sheets only" with superb 'HOBART, SOUTH/FE16/99/oTASo' cds. Superb. Most wrappers originated at Hobart, where the vast majority were cancelled with 'HOBART'-in-Bars. Dated examples are therefore very scarce.

ONE PENNY: 1d emerald Error of Colour on plain white wrapper WS17 (rated RR; unrecorded unused) endorsed "PMO" (= Printed Matter Only) over faint 'E MULCAHY' handstamp in violet, to "Franklin Hotel/Franklin" with Hobart duplex of JA14/93 and 'FRANKLIN/JA16/93/TASMANIA' arrival backstamp. Illustrated on page 152.

FEDERAL AUSTRALIAN PHILATELIST: 1d dull scarlet on white with 'BOOK POST' at upper-left and imprint of AF Basset Hull (Publisher) at the base WS14 (rated RR; unrecorded unused) to "The Standard Philatelist" in Missouri, poor Hobart duplex of AP6/91, roughly opened at the back & vertical fold to the left.
FEDERAL AUSTRALIAN PHILATELIST: 1d dull scarlet on white with 'BOOK POST' at upper-left and imprint of AF Basset Hull (Publisher) at the base WS14 (rated RR; unrecorded unused) to "L'Echo de la Timbrologie/.../Paris" with superb Hobart duplex of JA19/91, overweight with 'Deficient Postage ("1")/Fine ("1 - 2d")' handstamp, slightly miscut & minor blemishes.

MERCURY, THE: All-different group of various widths on a range of stocks with great variety in the banners (all rated R and only two of them recorded unused) comprising ½d orange to Sydney x3 or Adelaide, 1d rose (shades) x5 and 1d carmine all to London, a few roughly opened but generally fine to very fine. All illustrated on pages 137 to 140. A very interesting and desirable group.

MERCURY, THE: ½d bright orange on yellowish with 'Wild West'-style 'THE MERCURY' with wayward quotation marks WS1.3 (rated R; unrecorded used), unused. Illustrated on page 137.
TASMANIAN MAIL: 2d emerald (shades) on buff with Three-Line Header in two styles and two widths WS5.1 to 5.3 (each rated R; unrecorded unused) all to London with 'HOBART'-in-bars cancels, minor wrinkling & one with a stain at upper-left. A handsome trio. Two are illustrated on page 141.

TASMANIAN MAIL: 2d deep emerald on buff with Three-Line Header WS5.1 (rated R; unrecorded unused) to an officer in India with 'HOBART'-in-bars cancel, 'CAMPBELLPUR' arrival backstamp, forwarded to "RA [= Royal Artillery] Practice Camp Attock" with 'ATTOCK' arrival backstamp, minor repaired tear at upper-right clear of the stamp.
TASMANIAN MAIL: ½d dull orange + 1d rose-pink on off-white WS8.2 (rated RR; unrecorded unused) to a gold mine in the Transvaal with 'HOBART'-in-Bars cancels, minor blemishes. Illustrated on page 144.
TASMANIAN MAIL: ½d bright orange + 1d rose-pink on surfaced manilla WS8.2 (rated RR; unrecorded unused) to London with 'HOBART'-in-bars cancels, a couple of small repaired peripheral tears. Illustrated on page 144.
TASMANIAN MAIL: ½d dull orange + 1d rose-pink on flimsy buff WS8.2 (rated RR; unrecorded unused) to "Sandakan/North Borneo", roughly opened at the back. A very scarce destination.
TASMANIAN MAIL: 1d rose-pink + ½d bright orange on grey-buff with Three-Line Header WS8.3 (rated RR; unrecorded unused) to London uprated with Tablet ½d tied by 'HOBART'-in-bars cancels, minor wrinkling. Examination under magnification shows that the right-hand side of the ½d embossing is slightly over the 1d, proving that the impressions were applied from right to left. Illustrated on page 145.
TASMANIAN MAIL: 2d emerald + 1d rose with 'TASMANIAN MAIL/HOBART' Header WS9 (rated RR; unrecorded unused), minor defects at the base of the wrapper otherwise very fine unused. Stated to be the only recorded example.
TASMANIAN MAIL: 1d deep rose + 2d emerald + 2d emerald over ½d bright orange subsequently overprinted 'AGENT/FOR THE/TASMANIAN MAIL/HOBART/Messrs GORDON & GOTCH/Queen Street/ Melbourne' WS10.1 (rated RR; unrecorded unused), 'HOBART'-in-bars cancels, significant creasing with attendant fault between the ½d & 1d embossings. Stated to be one of only two recorded examples. Illustrated on page 146.
Although this may be the address panel from a wrapper, remarkably with a full 'set' of embossings, it has the appearance of being an embossed parcel address label. If that is the case, it is the only such postal stationery item recorded from any of the Australian Colonies/States.
