BRITISH GUIANA: 1941 (May 22) Darvas & Co Sydney envelope with Queen Mother1d green Die II pair tied Sydney cds paying 2d British Empire surface letter rate, censored with 'S.118' cachet on face and '2' label (cut-in-half) on reverse tied by same cachet sealing the back flap which had apparently been left open for inspection, couple of minor blemishes.
CHINA: 1948 cover to the Russian Daily News in Shanghai with scarce franking of KGVI 3d + 1/6d purple Hermes + 2/- Aboriginal Art tied by 'PARRAMATTA/31JY48/NSW' cds, blue/white R label, two different arrival b/s plus Chinese 'chops' in black (on the R label) & violet. [Between March 1945 & August 1949, the all-up airmail rate was 3/6d + 3d registration]
CZECHOSLOVAKIA: 1930 (Feb 3) double-rate cover to an architect in Moravia with Kangaroo 6d brown + KGV 1½d scarlet, 'PRAHA 7 CIZINA (ETRANGER)/7 III 30/XXX' arrival b/s, minor bends & soiling. The rate was foreign letter 3d for the first ounce + 1½d for the second ounce + 3d registration = 7½d]
JAPAN: 1967 (Oct 20) cover sent airmail to Japan endorsed "to be collected" with Birds 15c Galah solo franking tied Adelaide machine cancel paying Zone 3 airmail letter rate, re-addressed to Australia without aditional postage and taxed with 'BUREAU DE POSTE/TOKYO/JAPAN/TAXE PERCUE/[ ]YEN', then re-posted with Japan 10y Blossoms affixed alongside & tied 'TOKYO/21.XI.67' cds, a couple of minor blemishes.
LATVIA: 1939 (Mar 17) cover to Latvia with Kangaroo 9d + Small Lyrebird 1/- tied by Sydney cds, indistinct Latvian instructional b/s that may be a firm's cachet, repaired flap-tear. Scarce detination. The rate was 1/9d for air to Italy, then by rail, or 2/2d for the all-up service.
MALAYA: 1938 (July 13) cover to Kedah with Kangaroos CofA Wmk 9d - Die II Substitution with Frame Break above 'I' of 'AUSTRALIA' ACSC 29(3)d - + 4d Koala tied by light 'NORTH DANDALUP' (WA) cds, blue/white R label, Singapore transit b/s where air service terminated as indicated by the mss jusqu'a bars across the airmail label & large-part 'REGISTRATION & PARCEL BRANCH/ALOR STAR KEDAH' arrival b/s. The rate was 9d air to Singapore, then by rail, or 10d for air within Malaya as well. + 3d registration. The premium rate was paid but the all-up service was not provided.
PANAMA: 1912 (Dec 28) cover to a ship's captain c/- Pacific Steam Navigation Co at Panama endorsed in pencil "SS Guatemala", scarce combination franking of Tasmania ½d + Kangaroos 1d red vertical pair (one with a small fault) tied by Hobart machine cancel poor arrival b/s. [NB: the Republic of Panama is a much scarcer destination than the Canal Zone]
PORTUGAL: 1931 (Mar 11) unsealed envelope to "Lisborn" [sic] with KGV 1d green only, 'LISBOA/CENTRAL' machine & 'LISBOA NORTE/...' b/s, various mss endorsements & indistinct Portuguese instruction h/s on the face, returned via London where 'UNDELIVERED FOR REASON STATED/...' h/s applied in violet. The foreign Printed Matter rate was 1d per 2oz.
SOUTH AFRICA: 1923 (Mar 20) double-rate cover to Durban with Kangaroos 3d Die IIB & KGV 4d ultramarine - with variety Dot above 'F' of 'FOUR' ACSC 112(2)ve - tied by 'BRIGHTON/SA' squared-circle clear of the variety, large red/white R label, light overall soiling.
SOUTH-WEST AFRICA: 1923 (Nov 23) with KGV 1½d green paying the Empire letter rate tied by scarce 'BRITISH EMPIRE EXHIBITION/...' slogan cancel of Launceston, 'KEETMANSHOOP/17DEC23' arrival b/s, roughly opened with repaired tear on the reverse well clear of the b/s.
