Korea (North), 1948 3rd Anniv. of Liberation 50ch. rose-red on wove paper, unused without gum as issued, well centred, good colour, fine appearance, an extremely rare and major North Korean stamp unused. Scott 12 cat. US$4000 (italics).
Estimate 6,000 - 8,000

The catalogues lists this stamp as perf. 11 although perforating at this point was sometimes irregular and imperfect. The stamp's perforations could have been removed on separation, although the stamp has rather wide margins. Alternatively this example may have been produced from a sheet that was poorly perforated or not perforated.

Korea (North), 1949 Kim Il Sung University 1w. blue block of 16, unused without gum as issued, fresh, small puncture in margin below [6] just affecting stamp below and surface fault at foot of [11], h.s. on reverse of extreme lower right stamp, otherwise very fine, very scarce large multiple. Scott 18 cat. US$19,200.
Estimate 10,000 - 12,000

The roulettes on this block interestingly are misplaced. This and the other large multiples of this value we had sold in Dr. Maeda's collection originally came from a complete sheet that Dr. Maeda had purchased many years ago, which he split up, discarding examples that were unsatisfactory from a condition point of view.
