Group of 105 Barrel Cds Postmarks on Cover, from various Canadian cities. Not checked in detail by us, but this lot appears to include some early usages and frankings. Retired dealer stock (some sleeved and priced up to $25). A Mix of #8 and # 10 sized covers in mixed condition, but overall the quality of the strikes and covers is fine to very fine. A good lot for the specialist which also includes some on piece or stamp which were not counted. (Image)

1882 Great Western Railway Post Office Cancel Variety, on a 3c Small Queen cover to Waterdown, the cancel should read "G.W.R. / Accom." but this strike reads "C.W.R." and there is no trace of a vertical stroke on the far end of the "C". Even without this variety, the postmark is RF "F" in Gray (RY-77) and was in use for less than 4 years. Cover has contents and 3c SQ stamp is tied by a fancy cancel. Rough opening at right, else very fine and interesting. (Image)

Group of 5 Better Railway Post Office Items, 1871-1951, includes an 1871 cover to Pictou, NS with an MT-163 RF "F" H & P.R / = N.S = cancel applied twice, once on the cover's stamp and a second clear strike at bottom left. Also a closed mail dispatch notice from Boston to St Pierre & Miquelon with 5 R.P.O. cancels, including MT-164.03 (RF "F"), an ON-25.5 (RF "G") on a facing slip and WT-628 (RF "G") on a facing slip. Lastly, TS-74 square cancels on back of a cover from Newfoundland. This strike is not listed in Gray, but was an RF500 scarcity in Ludlow and includes a letter from Ludlow to the owner at the time saying he will list it in his next catalogue. A few faults here and there, still a useful lot. (Image)
