MILLARD FILLMORE 1853 Letter from President Fillmore to a shipping company in Buffalo, alerting them to his shipment of (72) boxes, a trunk & a barrel, containing "glass, wines, books, clothing and paintings," letter is dated March 3rd, the final day of his presidency, so he's packing up the White House & heading home to New York; one box in particular he requests to be handled carefully, "containing delicate shell work which is very highly prized by Mrs. Fillmore," she would not enjoy this however as she fell ill & died less than a month later in Washington; letter folded w/ some weakness at folds, signature strong; hopefully there weren't any classified documents in there!
