QUEENSLAND: Thursday Island 'ANT HILL HEIGHT 28FT, THURSDAY ISLAND' postcard on thick stock with 'BM 64483' imprint on address side showing two men or horseback beside the impressive ant hill which towers above them, sent to Japan in 1916 (Dec 24) with KGV ½d green & 1d red tied 'THURSDAY ISLAND/QUEENSLAND' cds paying the foreign postcard rate (minor corner bend), plus another with an almost identical view captioned 'Ant Hill, 28 feet high, North Queensland' on much thinner stock with 'O. Watson, Photographer' imprint sent to NSW in 1914 (Feb 16) with Kangaroo 1d red tied 'THURSDAY ISLAND' cds paying the domestic postcard rate and message "Port Darwin, South Australia 6.2.14 leaving for Thursday Island tomorrow" (very fine condition). A most interesting 'pair'.
