COLOMBIA
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
4844 og,O   imageCOLOMBIA DESIRABLE INTACT COLLECTION.Excellent collection with considerable depth housed in a battered old Scott national album with many good items throughout. The first page has an 1859 unused #1, used #2 with blue oval cancel, used #3, unused #3 with generous margins, unused #4, followed by a used 10cts buff again large margins all round (Scott #4a), also the 20cts blue is a wing marginal copy 4 margins with red cancel ending with the 1 peso carmine #7 unused with sidewalk margins and a superb mint 1 peso rose on bluish paper, then the 1860 series with 5cts grey lilac, both mint and used, again superb copies, 10cts yellow buff #11 with red straightline cancels, followed by #12 20cts blue again superb. This is followed by the United States of New Granada, with the complete series #13 to #18 used including the 5cts buff, as well as yellow #14a, with a combination of manuscript, oval and color cancels through to 1862 #19 and one of the scarcest stamps of Colombia the 20cts red  ,Scott #20 ($275,) with most attractive Bogota cancel, four generous margins, as well as the 50cts green #51 again four margined. Then the 1863/64 series complete, i.e. #24 to #34 also with a wide array of cancels, making a very impressive first page which from our calculation has a minimum Scott retail of ,approx $5000 with many individual items here. The second page is mostly a further study of the issues up to 1864 including plenty of Scott a#s, for example, #1a, #6a, #24a, #25a, #26a, #28a, #29a, etc. ,The third page, back to regular Scott national again virtually all well filled again 1865 complete, 1866 complete to 10 pesos #45 to #52, the 1868s complete through to high vals 5p and 10p 1870 complete, etc. Again there is a wide range of cancels and good material "outside the box". Then follows 1876/77 complete, through 1879, 1881 complete, etc. These too are followed by another page of varieties, including specialisation put in by this collector such as tete-beche and again various cancels to enjoy, etc. The collection continues in the same style and pattern i.e. virtual completion followed by his own pages of the different "a" numbers and non-Scott listed material, highly impressive through to the beginning of the ,20th century where the collection gets even more intense with overprints on both sides, "b" ,"c" and "d" numbers, printing on both sides, perforation varieties, etc, etc. Page after page of completion awaits combined with so much more than the Scott catalog listings, including material that is very seldom seen in collection format. Extensive range is also given to the Medellin and Barranquilla issues through to plenty of high values such as large margins #323 and #324 and key stamps with center inverted type A99 Camilo Torres Scott #331a $425 plus of course the complete series of the same #331 to #338 mint, Scott retail $437 yet also having the high values mint never hinged. Similar never hinging, very tough to find in these issues continuing with the scarce Barranquilla Olympic Games, complete mint never hinged Scott #421 to #436 (Scott retail at $1350 hinged). Also present the scarce imperf between on the Olympicss #432a ($240), further pages of errors and non-Scott listed, unusual sheets/sheetlets, all kinds of overprint varieties, through the 1940s, 50s imperf blocks of 4, imperfs between, through to back of the book, special delivery, registrations as far as we can tell complete, then acknowledgement of receipt stamps, late fee stamps, postage dues, departments again with an extensive specialized study, officials #01 to #O13, yet further varieties, postal tax stamps, unusual SCADTA airline etiquette labels from 1926 onwards, etc, etc. Collections of this importance do not come up on the market that often, offered intact as received. A tremendous opportunity. (Image1) (Image2) (Image3) (Image4)

4848 og,O   BOHEMIA & MORAVIA PLUS SUDETENLAND HOLDING.A substantial collection housed in 6 volumes with 1000s of stamps through to WWII, methodically organised by postmark and with an interesting section on perfins. 4 of the volumes concentrating on the postmarks of Bohemia and Moravia under German occupation, specifically as used on frankings on registered stationery cards. The postmarks are arranged alphabetically first by the departure towns and then again alphabetically subdivided by the receiving towns with each of the more than 2000 pieces representing a different route, making this an impressive and definitive undertaking. The other 2 albums have Sudetenland postmarks with spaces laid out for town and villages with the dates of opening of the respective offices. The perfins are also organized in a copious manner company by company, alphabetically as well as the dates of operation, somewhat sparse, through sheer difficulty in finding such material, nevertheless with many attractive items present, for example science and agriculture 100h red pair on cover with BDB perfin of Brunnendirektion, Bilin, applied in one punch to the folded pair so appearing symmetrically, etc. The layout here is methodical and this would be a wonderful collection to expand. Please inspect carefully, a collection with considerable potential. 1,200-1,500

4849 og,O,c   CZECHOSLOVAKIA STAMP AND POSTAL HISTORY COLLECTION FOCUSING ON POST-WW II YEARS.An attractive collection, extremely well displayed with write up on homemade album pages and housed in one thick album, mint and used from the immediate post WWII years, with much non-Scott listed. The focus of the collection is the immediate post 1944 era in tip-top quality beginning with the April 1945 m/s for the return of Dr Benet, including a registered cover of the same to England which is certainly scarce as well as gutter pairs of the 2, 5 and 6k of the same again on another registered cover. Also, present unusual definitives in blocks of 4 from the corner margins of the sheets with the plate numbers, as well as an extensive range of airmails with se-tenants etc The collection continues to unfold with the 16th May special presentation sheets for the new Republic including the hailed return of the Boys Scouts movement, banned by the Third Reich in the Protectorate. Further propaganda here promoting the short transition of democracy before the Soviets consolidated their power. This definitely requires the use of an overseas Czech specialized catalog, as there is much seldom seen material here and must be viewed carefully to be fully appreciated. 1,000-1,500

Also the complete series of 7 perf and imperf present on cover, with double concentric circle cancels ,20th June 1921, again visually very impressive. Scarce stamps too, with for example the Gorny Slask phoenix 1921 10 oplata complete series with se-tenants, both perforate and imperforate. There are also many misplaced overprints, different colored o/ps, double o/ps, reverse o/ps, inverted o/ps, not just on the numeral issues but the plebiscites o/ps with the 60pf and 75pf inverted, etc.. Another interesting part is the C.I.H.S. o/ps in black and red, mint and used, complete, signed by Dr Haertel in his ubiquitous way and valued accordingly as reference. However the collateral accompanying this, namely a signed statement of authenticity in letter format on these dozens of stamps, as certified from Beuthen on the ,17th February 1936 signed by his son Willi Haertel, stating that his father&rsquo,s purple handstamp M. Haertel (geprueft) are all genuine - clearly the apple does not fall far from the tree! We have never seen this before. Also among the many other hundreds of stamps here, there is a wide range of back of the book, not listed as far as we can see in any catalog with for examples revenues with the C.G.H.S. o/ps, specifically for Liegnitz Rawitscher Eisenbahn among many others, including lots of high values with many different elaborate designs etc. When we suggested that the collection may well be irreplaceable, it is no exaggeration. Please study the photoplates to get a flavor of this wonderful collection, a once in a liftetime opportunity. (Image1) 7,500-10,000
